Write to belong 2026 Session 5
Back by popular demand, East Riding Libraries are offering a free 9-session creative writing course led by acclaimed authors Vicky Foster and Chrissy Lewis. With a unique opportunity to learn from industry experts and network with your local community, these workshops will build confidence, spark creativity, and foster community through storytelling. The sessions will work towards a final showcase which will be shaped by participants, giving an opportunity to perform what has been learnt over the course.
No experience is needed – just a pen and paper/ laptop and willingness to have a go! Sessions will include writing poetry, fiction, non-fiction and journaling, as well as performance techniques and tips for sharing work.
The library offers a safe, welcoming and inclusive space to explore writing, connect with others, and work towards a celebratory performance in December.
Whilst attendance at every session is not mandatory, participants are encouraged to attend as many sessions as possible. Participation from individuals from underrepresented groups is particularly encouraged.
