How to borrow eMagazines and eNewspapers

We use PressReader to offer free, digital access to eMagazines and eNewspapers. The first time you use service, you will need to register. This will give you 30 days uninterrupted access. After this, you need to log in again every 30 days to continue to access a range of titles for free using your computer or smart device.

Make sure you have read the before you start section before following these instructions.

Please Note
If you’re in a library building, you don’t need to sign in to access PressReader on your mobile device because libraries are marked as HotSpots where PressReader allows everyone free access. You don’t need to connect to the public Wi-Fi to access PressReader. You do need to ensure that Enable Location Services is switched on in More: Settings.

Instructions for first time use of PressReader

Step 1

Click Sign in on the PressReader app or website.

Step 2

Select Libraries & Groups (you may then be prompted to also click a button for Select Library or Group to open the search)

Step 3

Type East Riding in the search box, click or tap it to select it.

Step 4

Enter your Library Card Number and PIN (that you use to access the catalogue).

We recommend ticking both boxes to allow registration verification and to stay signed in.

Click the button to sign in (app) or log in (website).

Step 5

As this is your first time using the service, you will need to create a free account using your email address and a password. Follow the on screen instructions to set up your account.

Step 6

To get full access to all publications on PressReader, you need to Enable HotSpots. From the homescreen, tap on More, then Settings, then tap on the Enable HotSpots toggle switch until it becomes green.

Step 7

Browse, read, enjoy.

Instructions for using PressReader after setting up an account

To reactivate your PressReader account for free, you will need to log in once every 30 days. You may need to sign out and sign in again. If you have any issues with borrowing titles, please try signing out and signing in again.

To find the sign out option, tap on the user icon, scroll to the bottom of the menu and tap sign out. Follow on screen prompts to complete the process. You will then be able to sign in again for another 30 days free access.

There is no limit to how many times you can reactivate your account.

If you want to suggest a publication is added to PressReader, you can submit a publication request directly to PressReader using their online form. Please note, this form is not affiliated with East Riding of Yorkshire Council or the East Riding Libraries service.

How many eMagazines can I have?

You can read as many as you like including back issue eMagazines from our collection. Choose from over 140 countries and over 60 different languages. There are over 500 UK eMagazines to choose from alone. Remember there is free public Wi-Fi at all our branch libraries to download your eMagazines.

You can download hundreds of eNewspapers using the same account on the same platform.
