The East Riding Mobile Library Service visits more than 160 stops every single month, bringing books, and more, into your community.
Meet our mobiles
As voted for by our lovely social media followers, we’d like to introduce you to our fleet of mobile libraries:
Terry Dispatchit
Named after one of the UKs bestselling authors, Terry can be found bringing books and magic to villages across the county.
Wheeliam Shakespeare
To read or not to read? Named after William Shakespeare, Wheeliam is out and about most days bringing literature to the masses.
Road Dahl
Not quite a giant peach! Our smallest mobile library, Road can sometimes be found at events across the county, as well as parked up on street corners bringing stories.
Brum Stoker
He’s not as scary as he sounds! Brum is our at home vehicle, bringing books to vulnerable people in towns and villages around the East Riding.

What can you do on our mobiles?
You can see a full list of services on offer on our mobile libraries by clicking on the stop you’d like to visit. Here’s a sample of what you can expect:
- Gym in a Box - loanable gym equipment exclusively on the mobiles
- Free Wi-Fi
- Free to borrow books for members
- Free to take caddy bags
- People's Network Laptops
- Hearing aid batteries
- Period products
- And always greeted with a friendly face
You can sign up for text updates on our mobile library service by emailing mobile.library@eastriding.gov.uk or calling 01482 392749, giving us your name, library number and location of where you would normally get on the mobile. This way we can keep you updated with any changes happening.
At Home Service
Do you know someone who loves to read, but can’t make it out of the house to get to their closest branch or mobile library? The East Riding Libraries ‘At Home’ service offers free delivery and collection of library books every four weeks to customers within the community who are unable to make the trip due to disability, illness, or transport issues, and who have no one who can go for them.
If you know of anyone; family members, neighbours, or someone in the community who would benefit from the ‘At Home’ service, please get in touch with our team and complete the Expression of Interest form below.
