Secondary Description

Living history of Goole

Explore the social history of Goole thanks to donations of photos and items from local people. There are 6,000 images of Goole and its surrounding area in our collections. The Garside Collection, given to the town by the late Harold Garside, a dedicated and celebrated historian as well as veteran of World War I, looks at the town’s history before the 19th century. Visit Goole Museum and experience the history of the town through the donated objects and memories of its residents.

Local displays and changing exhibits

Every year our temporary gallery space shows five new exhibitions. Our volunteer team research and create a new exhibition linked to the social history of Goole, and there is an annual Open Art. The space is also used for local artists to display their work, or for local groups and individuals to showcase collections. To apply to use the display area, please get in touch.
